Her mind lay broken on the floor. She crouched down to look at it. It looked like the splinters of a shattered mirror, each piece reflecting something slightly different from its neighbours.  When they came to ask if she was OK, she did not respond. She was absorbed.

She gathered all the little lights that never stood a chance and kept them in her ever-expanding heart, where they flickered like so many fireflies. Through time, there were so many that the light became a constant glow, and it was very pleasant to be near her on dark evenings.

She broke their yellow flesh. She ate her childhood and more…so much more. There was no knowing how much.

I dream-wander through a world that has no better meaning. I see, in the dark light, forms that are not there. I am not searching. I am not meaning. I am not. I am.

They met in a cathedral to the ghosts of men’s dreams. They touched beneath the ornate decay. They kissed as the crumbling edifice continued its return to becoming. They remained long after they should have gone.

Realisation is such an intriguing concept……..Our limited minds do not encompass that which we have not yet created for ourselves through realisation. The implications!

He kissed her, kissing other. He loved her, loving other. There was no her, and no other.

Watching the game intently, Eric tried to work out exactly how one got into the Sin Bin, and what in fact went on in there. Kyle, meanwhile, finished with the orange slices.

It’s just one big gallery, he thought, walking through life. And what art-works adorned its countless corridors. He loved more of them than it was possible to have. What variety! They evoked so many responses. They spoke to him. From the exquisitely beautiful oh-my-god-I-have-to-have-it forms to the abstract, challenging or enigmatic types, he could not resist them.  Each one was a puzzle that did not need a solution – just an appreciation of her mystery. Women were just like paintings.

The future hit him in waves, with a clarity that paralysed him. He saw without variation what would occur, but was unable to act. Whether this meant that the course of events was altered or unaltered remained unclear.
