Eric never looked back. That was Kyle’s responsibility. Eric inferred that it was because of an old leap-frog injury, but Kyle suspected fowl play.
Walking down the stairs, she suddenly realised that she remembered who she was; who she had been. She had missed being herself. It was as though she had found a foothold on the sheer face of life, and the euphoria of finding it had somehow enabled her to fly the rest of the way to the summit.

The walls bleed colour and the streets crawl with life again. Fear, hope, excitement, confusion. The torrent of emotion is here and now. The future will look after itself, when the streams merge and the tide pulls all things from the past through the eye of the present.
It takes many years to approach the mirror, to look at the things that look back. The ego is an empty shell, fearful of the certain blows from the things beyond the glass. It is narcissistic, made of many brittle and ingrained layers, but it is also curious. Curiosity cannot kill it. It will break open the shell prison.
